Titan Books to publish The Wizard of Id in September 2011

In September 2009 Titan Books gave us the anthology “The Best of The Wizard of Id”, Parker and Hart’s award winning satirical strip classic, and it must have been a big success, because two years on, in September 2011, they will publish the first volume of dailies and Sundays of this masterpiece, not from the beginning in 1964, but starting in 1971. Completists will moan, but think about it, this is the first major reprinting of this milestone in American comic strip history. Goodbye to the dinky paperbacks, this is how the strip should be presented and enjoyed. Okay, so hang on to your paperbacks from ’64 to ’71, ditch the rest, and enjoy the madness in major library presentation. Syndicated in over a 1000 newspaper across the world, the Wizard of Id has won five national Cartoonist Society ‘Best Humor Strip’ awards in 1971, 1976, 1980, 1982 and 1983 as well as a Reuben award in 1968. “Id” is a Freudian psychological term for the instinctive and primal part of the human psyche, and also the name of Parker and Hart’s imaginary kingdom. So let your id take over in September 2011, the month of the idiots!
