Endelig!

This Collection Needs Help! Volume 1: Gwandanaland Comics Nostalgia Series #64 - The Most Innovative and Hilarious Mag of the early 60s!

amazon.com:
THIS IS HELP! - THE MAGAZINE WITH “KISSIES”

OVER 200 PAGES OF BALONEY – ALL SLICED UP INTO LITTLE PIECES!

HUMOR – SATIRE – PARODY – SOCIAL COMMENTARY – POP CULTURE ENTERTAINMENT

For a series that lasted a scant half decade (roughly 1960-1965) HELP! Was critical to the evolution of humor and entertainment in America. It was populated by some of the top writers in the world, including Rod Serling, Algis Budrys, H.G. Wells, and of course the founder Harvey Kurtzman himself. The illustrators were a Who's Who of the day, including Kurtzman, Al Jaffee, Jack Davis, John Severin – to name but a few. Nothing was off-limits, whether for the sake of a laugh or to poke serious fun at the world itself. It was the most sophisticated and yet irreverent publication of its genre, and while it was never profitable, it was always cutting-edge. It had some controversy, including a parody “Archie Goes Playboy” which resulted in two legal actions and a promise never to reprint the story again (but we never made that promise, so you WILL find it inside)! Like many early 60s Warren publications, the copyright missed its renewal putting it into the public domain.

Basil Wolverton vil ikke gå galt i byen her!

The Complete Rex Dexter: Gwandanaland Comics #3230 -- The Interplanetary Explorer - Written and Drawn by Dick Briefer Paperback

amazon.com:
INTERPLANETARY EXPLORER REX DEXTER, though he arrived on Earth from Mars in the year 2000 to find an advanced civilization, was really an Earthman – born on Mars where his parents had crashed some six decades earlier. Finally able to escape the Red Planet, Rex and his girlfriend Cynde travel among the stars and planets, battling for their lives and the fate of the Earth, and encountering the most amazing creatures known to the Universe!

REX DEXTER appeared in Mystery Men Comics #1-24 (1939-1941), a reprint story in The Eagle #1, and had his own title for a thrilling one issue! We've collected all his stories into this great collection --- your passport to the Spaceways!

Billede

The Complete War Fury: Gwandanaland Comics #3234 -- Pre-Code Battle Comics!

amazon.com:
War is bad – always – but nothing says human drama quite like the horrors of battle. If you have to endure stories of war, at least you have names like Don Heck, Don Perlin, Pete Morisi, and H.C. Kiefer to make it an exciting read! Publisher Comic Media was short-lived (1950-1954) but produced some high-quality books outside the mainstream genres of superheroes and caped crimefighters ---- romance and war, the polar opposites, along with horror being the mainstays. WAR FURY features a lot of Don Heck's pen, just before he was pulled over to Atlas and became a part of the birth of Marvel. These are thrilling stories, the last gasp of pre-code war!

Billede

The Complete Jumbo Comics: Giant #2: Gwandanaland Comics #3172-HC: Issues #9-16

amazon.com:
JUMBO COMICS was not the first comic book, but it could be called a comic book of firsts – because this long-running series launched dozens of comic characters, and featured many of the great names of comics such as Jack Kirby, Bob Powell, Will Eisner, Matt Baker, Dick Briefer, Bob Kane and others. JUMBO began primarily as a reprint comic, but before long was a full-color showcase for original stories. From 1938-1953 --- a fantastic 15 year run, JUMBO COMICS was a mainstay of the Golden Age of Comics and Beyond. During its heyday, the lineup of JUMBO COMICS remained the same for over three years, a testament to the popularity, quality and creativity of this classic series.

This series is available as a “regular” 27-Volume collection or these amazing GIANT books (all between 450-590 pages). This second GIANT book marks the change from black & white stories (many adapted from newspaper strips) to full color mostly-original stories. The lineup of artists is a Who's Who of the Golden Age – Eisner, Fine, Briefer, Tuska and more!

Golden Age All Stars: Gwandanaland Comics #3215 --- Some Of The Most Famous Superheroes Team-Up to Protect Justice and our Society!

amazon.com:
They were the earliest days of the Golden Age (1940-1941) and some of the greatest superheroes of the 20th Century were being introduced and featured in the earliest issues of All-Star Comics #1-4. Individually at first, and then as part of the first great Society of heroes seeking Justice for all, these iconic characters have thrived over the last 80 years. Through the good fortunes of fate, those first four issues did not have copyright renewed, which puts them squarely in the public domain, and allows us to present them for you in this amazing collection!

We're not trying to be coy – trademark laws limit what I can display and use for marketing purposes --- but if you know who these characters are, then you know who these characters are, and you don't need my help!

NOTE: In issues #1, 2 and #4 a few pages are not available in high-quality original scans, and so are filled from other sources: B&W reprints, microfiche, later color reprints, etc. This affects only a small number of pages out of the entire book – fewer than 10 out of 270. Given the rarity and cost of these originals, we hope you will appreciate that something, in this case, is better than nothing – but if you can help update these books, contact us for great rewards!

Billede

Avon Science-Fiction Gems: Gwandanaland Comics #2046-HC: Five Classic Space Opera Greats!

amazon.com:
In the early 1950s, Avon Periodicals set new standard of quality and excitement for the science-fiction comic. The stories were exceptional, and the artists among the best in the business – talents such as Wally Wood, Joe Kubert and Carmine Infantino put pen to paper and created a new future universe for the comic reader of the early Atomic Age. The thrilling volume contains these classics:

ATTACK ON PLANET MARS

AN EARTH MAN ON VENUS

FLYING SAUCERS

ROBOTMEN OF THE LOST PLANET

ROCKET TO THE MOON

This Gwandanaland Comics contains credits and other important information for these historic comics, as well as larger page images – a truly deluxe collection!

Billede

The Complete Movie Comics: Gwandanaland Comics #1982-HC: The Hottest Films of the Day (1946-47) Adapted to Comics, and More!

amazon.com:
It was a genius idea, one which may have just been ahead of its time – taking the movies to the comics. In the 40s and 50s is was tried by a number of publishers. Later, when it was applied to popular TV shows – perhaps with a more loyal, long-standing audience – it took off. In the meantime, though not long-lived, Fiction House's MOVIE COMICS (#1-4; 1946-1947) presented some of the top films and stars of Holly wood adapted for comics, and features drawn by some of the top comic illustrators of the day include Bob Lubbers and Matt Baker! Can you imagine if they decided decades later to do comic adaptations of iconic films like Star Wars? Wait... they did? See, this series WAS ahead of its time!

Billede

Fun With A Menace: Volume 2: Gwandanaland Comics #3258 --- America's Favorite Eternal Child!

amazon.com:
He is immediately recognizable to Americans and kids of all ages across the world. He has been 5-and-a-half years old and more than a handful since he debuted in 1951, and he has never been out of print in some form somewhere. Whether he's making his father's hair turn gray, his mother reach the end of her rope, or making Mr. Wilson just lose it, Dennis is that part of our childhood we never want to forget – fun, with no consequences. In 1953 the series was already popular enough for a comic book, and this series by Pines (the copyright for which was amazingly never renewed), brings some of the best FUN WITH A MENACE, continuing with Giants #3 & #4 and regular issue #8!

The Complete Black Phantom: Gwandanaland Comics #1077-HC: Her Full Series -- Exciting Western Hero Action! - "It's Complicated..."

amazon.com:
“It's Complicated....”

In the west the good guys are the good guys and the bad guys are the bad guys (or in this case, gal) --- but the story of Tim Holt (aka Red Mask) and Black Phantom (Helena) doesn't follow that simple path. She's a train robber who terrorizes the West with her cohort known as Beast, but she has to come to battle Red Mask --- and they begin a complex and exciting dance of crime versus law, man versus woman, right versus wrong. How does it end? Well, there'd be no sense in telling you that, because we have the complete series from Tim Holt / Red Mask and THE BLACK PHANTOM's only issue of her own comic series! In the 1950s the Western was King and in the West it was THE BLACK PHANTOM who wanted to be Queen!
